LaceyPlaylist

Just a quick post on muzaack! Songs on the loop recently are from 3 Fil-Am artists from Californ-ay-eyyy: Rocky Rivera, Bambu, and Kixxie Siete

Apparently still got the 'fever' from Bambu's last visit. He's coming back on November for more, tagging along Kixxie Siete and Prometheus Brown (if I'm not mistaken).

Enjoy!!

Vintage Frames

Last week we headed to Quiapo with a mission: to find the perfect frames for Al's glasses (or JP, or Mayall, or John. The man has a thousand nicknames!). He had the same ones for 3 years and it's already grimy plus the lens grade doesn't match his eye grade anymore.

We went to Santiago, a store that sells vintage stuff at a very friendly cost - watches, clocks but mainly eye wear. Their eye wear frame collection is so vast and beautifully vintage, I didn't know what to check out first.

1. The shop. // 2. Vintage wristwatches. // 3. Some of the frames that caught my eye. // 4. Let your hippie spirit free with these 70's inspired sunnies and frames. // 5. Kuya owner with Al. // 6. Cat-eye sunnies, my most favorite! //
7. Random "high" signage we saw. Haha! // 8. Manila's personality in a photo.

Out of Town Delight

Last weekend, the whole family took a break from our daily routines and from the city. Our timing (or the weather's) is kinda off because the whole time we were there it won't stop raining. And by the time we reached the city proper the sun was shining again. Talk about luck (or lack thereof!) Nonetheless, it was a great break from the toxicity of the typical 'same shit, different day' .

1. I dream of having a rest house surrounded by this. // 2. Child-like happiness. // 3. Nicolay playing. //
4. The massive beaut above our heads while eating. // 5. Religious statues displayed all over the vicinity. Buddhist, I think. // 6. Our bed during the stay. Never wanna get off from it, super soft and comforting! //
7. Keys // 8. Love black and white themed rooms. // 9. My boys on our way home.

Birthday Wishlist

With less than 2 weeks until the birthday, infatuations have developed and are stronger than ever. These are the things I have been swooning over and some beauty products I've had for a while (but would be delighted if it were unlimited for less anxiety attacks).

I'm not someone who is very keen on brands. As long as it does its job, has great quality, and looks good then I'm all for it. Also never been into trends - comfort and expression come first. I just dive into trends if I think they suit me and is comfy.

Photo sets 2 and 5 are from Polyvore and the rest are from Google.

Photo set 1:

Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight - I co-sleep with my kid which means I can't turn on the lights for reading, this is where it comes handy. // Sony Alpha NEX-7 - Been on the hunt for a compact digi cam but with dslr-like results minus the weight and bulk. My DSLR gets heavy and takes too much space. I just wish I can afford this. //
iPhone 5 - Just because. // MacBook Pro - Just because my present laptop's crappy.

Photo set 2:

Denim, Sheer, Cut-out, oversized tops - In love with them! // High-waisted shorts and skirts - They come in many styles and very versatile! // Mullet or Maxi skirts - Perfect for when I'm feeling a little girly, or a hot day, or a lazy day, or a smart-casual look for meetings. // Printed leggings - I live off of leggings! They're super comfortable and easy to move around in. I can never live without one and jeans feel too restricting. //
Harem Pants - I think they suit me very well and it's comfortable!

Photo set 3:

Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturizer - Not sure if this is available in Manila but I'm dying to try it! Perfect for Manila's humidity. //  NARS Sheer Glow Foundation - I've heard good things about this. Made for cooler months and night time shindigs! // Bobbi Brown Corrector and Concealer kit - I can swear on how brilliant the corrector is and would like to try the concealer too! // Laura Mercier Mineral Powder Foundation - For that oil-less finish. //
MAC Brow Set in Girl Boy - Wanna try it out. // Bobbi Brown Gel Liner - It's magic in a pot! //
Benefit They're Real Mascara - Heard this product can do amazing things! //
Sleek Face Contour Kit - Very affordable and does its job. Unlimited supply please! // Benefit High Beam Highlighter - (insert heart icon here).

Photo set 4:

L'Oreal Everpure Moisture Line - I want to give it a try cause someone has recommended me this. But it isn't available in the Philippines, I think. // Argan oil - No specific brand just any pure Argan oil. Made for rescuing dry hair and dry skin. // Aromatherapy Enrich Hair Oil - For that extra boost and nourishment. //
Davines Package - Heaven in a package. //
L'Occitane Desert Rose Hand Cream - Smells delightful and will keep your shakers moisturized and soft. // Korres Lip Butters - Cute pots and tint colors!! //
Sleek Pout Polish - Love lip products in pots plus it has SPF for lip protection!! //
Clarisonic Mia 2 - Extra clean face is always good! I just need them in my life! //
LUSH Love Lettuce Face Mask - It calms them angry pores and takes away the redness. Leaving your face extra smooth and glowing.

yea
Photo set 5:

Knapsack Bags -  Leather and canvas are all you need. // Leather, Roomy, Structured Bags - Where I can dump all my stuff in and they'll all fit. // Sneakers - My weapon of choice. //
Isabel Marant Sneaker Wedges - For times where I feel the need to be taller and be discreet about it. They're also super comfy! The answer to the prayers of petite girls who are not into heels that much. //
Wedges - I like them better than skinny stilettos. //
Classic Pumps - For formal occasions or when you wanna feel sexy and let everyone know.

Photo set 6:

Hush Hush: Stories by Steven Bartheleme - Reviews are good! I want to check it out myself. //
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn - Read the sample of this book and I got hooked! //
Telegraph Avenue by Michael Chabon - A story of two friends who will do anything to save their Jazz shop. Jazz, you say? Hook me up! //
Back to Blood -  Nice looking covers are like invitation for me to read them. So go!//
Chuck Palahniuk Books - Read PYGMY and fell in love with the author. I am intrigued by his books. //
This is How You Lose Her by Junot Diaz - Something for the romantic at heart, especially for the men.

Aside from this being my wishlist, this also serves as my to-buy list if no one cares to buy me a present. Haha! Anyway, we just got back from a brief vacation in Batangas and I'll be posting on that soon!

Have any of you guys tried or read any of these products? I wanna know what you have to say :)

STNDRDS MLA

With a slew of local streetwear coming out and, not to mention, fake products duping people into thinking they got the same quality as the originals at a cheaper price, the local streetwear scene is really heating up. Now, I am not gonna pretend I have all the facts about this industry because I don't. I know a good amount of them (because of the boyfriend and friends) enough to be able to give out a fair judgment.

Great product quality at a reasonable price, a welcoming feeling from the owners - an 'almost relationship' where the owners are open to do what they can to satisfy their customers, and if we're lucky we get to have our goodies the way we want it - customized, exactly! These are what I personally find appealing and necessary in a brand or product. And, all these are what STNDRDS MLA is made of - experienced it first hand!!

STNDRDS MLA is the brainchild of my friends Danee and Michaelo. It's generally a local streetwear brand that creates customized pocket tees of great quality with free comradeship from the owners. For almost a year now, STNDRDS MLA has been working their creative juices to give you what you want so I wandered inside the creative minds behind the brand and discovered how it was born and what they think the future holds for the brand.

*Following pictures are from their Camouflage Collection - their latest.*

When did STNDRDS start?

STNDRDS was established around the middle of December 2011
.

What was the concept behind the brand and why "STNDRDS"?

The name STNDRDS came from us wanting to make products [which we started off with the shirts] with good quality. Just kind of hoping to set the standards of what a good shirt would be whether it’s a pocket tee, a button down, a tank top, or a graphic shirt. If other brands go 100% hard, we try to put in that extra 10% given whatever resources and circumstances we move in.

What makes STNDRDS different from others?

We'd like to think that we stand out because we base things on providing our buyers with something they want exactly the way they want it. Its like going to a tailor to have a suit made. Except, its just shirts. You tell us how you want your pockets, the shape, the color of the stitching, the shirt. We make it as interactive as we can so that we get to go hard on that “customer satisfaction-shit”.

How do you come up with each collection and what's the inspiration behind each one?

Inspiration-wise we just think about what we'd wanna wear at the time and just hope our buyers can relate and like it just as much as we do. Sometimes we try to see what events or holidays are comin’ up and try to match a pattern with that day/event.

We don’t simply decide on our designs just because we think its cool. Making pocket tees are easy. Making pocket tees with a goal is not.

How many collections have you put out already? What’s your favorite one (if there’s one) and why?

We don't really have a favorite. All our releases are special to us. But we could say that our biggest release was both the 4/20 shirt and the Medisina collab shirt. Those sold out pretty quick.

What's the latest collection about?

The latest collection is made up of 4 kinds of camouflage patterns that you dont usually see all the time. We have a video and a lookbook both shot by Geloy Concepcion with music by Justin de Guzman of Deeper Manila. An up and coming photographer and friend of ours. We like keeping everything within our circle as much as possible like that.

What are your plans for STNDRDS?

Our plans for Stndrds? As cliché’ as it sounds we just wanna keep doing what we do and hopefully people respond to it the way we hope the way would. Just to be able to make it and be known as a good brand that makes good clothes. Its time someone started a brand based on the buyers and not the trend. We won’t always be into pocket tees but we'll always try to drop a new one every now and then even when the trend fades.

How do we order and/or contact you? Price range?

You guys can simply contact us and order through the following:

Mobile: 09165643721

Price-wise, our t-shirts range from 500-600 pesos depending on the pocket. We try to set our prices at rates where we can continue making shirts. We love our buyers, which means we wanna keep making shirts for them too.

Whatchoo waiting for? Start working those fingers and be sure to check out their shirts and secure one as fast as you could, or better yet 3, coz products are limited!! Now, here's STNDRDS' sneak peek of their latest collection. Enjoy! :)
